How To Cook Hot Dogs In The Microwave

One of the simplest methods to quickly put a supper on the table is to microwave hot dogs. I routinely microwave hot dogs to prepare them for my family or even a fast meal for one person.

However, there are other methods for preparing hot dogs, including grilling, air frying, boiling, and baking. However, it’s so simple to microwave hot dogs!

You’ll need two basic ingredients, plus condiments if desired. And, you’ll need paper towels.

  • hot dogs

For the buns, you can substitute all kinds of things.

How do you cook 2 Hot Dogs in the Microwave?

I cook hot dogs the same manner whether I’m preparing a complete package or just one or two. At the same time, 1-2 hot dogs are wrapped in a paper towel. Cook for 30 to 60 seconds if you’re heating a few hot dogs in the microwave. Check after 30 seconds. They must be warmed and swelled.

Cooking a whole package of Hot Dogs in the Microwave

Usually, I prepare 8 to 10 hot dogs at a time when I cook an entire package. I cook around 10 hot dogs at a time in the Microwave if I have more than that (since I have a large family, we often prepare about 16 hot dogs at a time for supper).

Each paper towel should contain 2 hot dogs. To avoid stacking the hot dogs on top of one another, arrange them in a circle. I prefer to use a microwave-safe dish for this.

How to Microwave Hot Dogs

The hot dogs should be cooked in 1-minute intervals until they feel hot and full. Be careful because if you leave them in the Microwave for too long, they may burst and make a large mess all over the appliance.

This is why I prefer to check them every minute.

When you unwrap them, the hot dogs need to be swollen and hot to the touch.

How to Properly Microwave a Hot Dog

How long should hot dogs be microwaved?

Microwave on high for 1/2 minute (or 45 seconds for a small microwave or 20 seconds for a powerful microwave). Open the door and inspect the hot dog, taking care not to burn yourself. Repeat in 20-second increments until the hot dog is cooked to your taste.

Is it safe to just microwave hot dogs?

Yes, it is 100% safe to microwave hot dogs. Just cook them on high power for 30-45 seconds and prick each one a few times with a spoon or toothpick before cooking.

The only risk is if you undercook them. Because raw and processed meats can play host to many different bacteria, you want to confirm that they are cooked to an adequate temperature (also, hot meats taste better than cold meats).

What happens when you put a hot dog in the microwave for 2 minutes?

If you microwave your hot dog on high for more than 30 seconds, you find that the ends explode, harden, and burn. Allowing the hot dog to rest every 15 seconds and rolling it around on the plate helps to spread the heat out a little. So, do not cook them for more than a minute and less than 45 seconds.
