Old Forge Pizza Recipe

We’ve all heard of New York-style, Chicago-style, and true Neapolitan pizza. However, the little community of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, has its unique pizza style.

This pie is created in the style of Pennsylvania’s Old Forge, the self-proclaimed “pizza capital of the world,” and is notable for its rectangular form, light, and fluffy crust, onion-laden sauce, and a good cheese combination.

What makes Old Forge pizza different?

Old Forge, PA, located in southwest Lackawanna. The town has become a Mecca for Italian cuisine and the “Pizza Capital of the World.”

The distinctive “Old Forge Pizza” is baked on a rectangular metal pan, with no “slices” but instead “cuts,” and you order it by the “tray” rather than the “pie.” If you order a “pie,” you could receive an apple or blueberry!

Each restaurant in the neighborhood serves somewhat different pizzas, with many serving both “red” and “white” pizzas. Red pizza is a standard ordinary crust covered with tomato sauce and cheese, but white pizza is frequently double-crusted, sauceless, oozing cheese, and topped with rosemary.
